Today Panalpina announced the appointments of three industry experts to globally lead its core products Ocean Freight, Air Freight and Logistics. In parallel Sven Hömmken, Head of Supply Chain Management, was also named Global Head of Marketing and Sales. The fulfilment of these positions marks the closure of the adaptations to its organizational structure announced in March 2010.

Panalpina inaugurates new all cargo air freight services
The global forwarding and logistics group Panalpina will commence additional own controlled regular airfreight services connecting Luxembourg with destinations such as South Africa, Dubai and Hong Kong. Panalpina gains market share and significantly improves profitability
In the second quarter of 2010, the Panalpina Group posted substantial growth in forwarding volumes in both air freight (+36%) and ocean freight (+19%), gaining market share in both segments. At the same time, the company increased profitability per freight unit quarter-on-quarter and was able to keep costs tightly under control. The settlement negotiations with the U.S. authorities should be concluded in the second half of the year. In the second quarter, Panalpina set aside a CHF 128 million compliance provision to cover expected fines and future compliance consultancy costs.

Panalpina Japan and YAS: Implementation of new cooperation agreement on track
The realignment of the successful cooperation between Panalpina Japan and the NYK subsidiary Yusen Air & Sea Service is proceeding according to plan. According to an agreement between the Panalpina Group and the NYK Group, Panalpina Japan will in-source its airfreight export operations this month and the airfreight import operations in early 2011.

U.S. Authorities settle civil complaint against Panalpina
Among other parties, Panalpina Houston had been named as a defendant in a qui tam civil complaint filed several years ago by a private party on behalf of the U.S. Government. In the complaint it is alleged that, in connection with the provision of logistics services, a former employee of Panalpina has provided unlawful entertainment to employees of a customer. According to a settlement agreement reached with the U.S. Authorities, Panalpina will pay USD 375,000.

Successful heavy lift airfreight transport to China

Panalpina reports a 39% increase in free cash flow despite lower volumes and gross profits
The Panalpina Group significantly increased its transport volumes in the third quarter of 2009 compared to the second quarter of 2009. Air freight volumes grew by 10% and ocean freight volumes by 13%. Compared to the first nine months of 2008, free cash flow increased by 39% to CHF 161 million despite 18.5% lower gross profits. In terms of operating costs, Panalpina is well on track to achieve the previously announced full year CHF 130 million reduction.

Panalpina and Atlas Air extend their cooperation
The global forwarding and logistics group Panalpina and its long-time airline partner Atlas Air have renewed their cooperation agreement. Within this cooperation, Panalpina provides own-controlled capacity between Europe, North America and Mexico and links the company’s Oil & Gas hubs. The capacity of the service called “Dixie Jet” is managed by Panalpina while the Boeing 747F freighter aircrafts are operated by Atlas Air.

While transport volumes have picked up significantly, gross profit performance falls short of the previous quarter
Panalpina, the global transport and logistics group, significantly increased its transport volumes in the air and ocean freight segments in the third quarter of 2009 as compared with the second quarter. That said, based on a 9-month comparison, volume growth and gross profit performance remained significantly below expectations. Panalpina Japan goes operational
Panalpina and the NYK Group have agreed to realign the level of their current cooperation in Japan. Panalpina Japan will entirely in-source the air and ocean freight operations effective January 2010. In line with an earlier agreement communicated in February 2007, Panalpina will continue to represent the NYK subsidiary Yusen Air & Sea Service interests in various countries.

Panalpina achieves a solid result in a difficult market environment
Thanks to strict cost management and a consistently implemented cost-cutting program, the Panalpina Group succeeded in significantly reducing its cost base year-on-year and as a result was able to compensate for the fall in volume. Compared to the prior-year period, free cash flow increased by 175%, and compared to the first quarter of 2009, air freight volume rose in the second quarter of 2009 by 3%, ocean freight by 8%. A large number of new business deals in the SME customer segment failed to compensate for the falloff in volume from large customers. Currency fluctuations had a negative impact on results. Gross profit fell by 15% compared with the same period in 2008 (-11.5% in local currency terms). Net earnings for the first six months amounted to CHF 16.9 million.

Panalpina achieves considerable cash flow increase
The Panalpina Group more than quadrupled free cash flow and grew gross profit per unit of cargo well above 20% in the first quarter 2009. In a very difficult market environment, the company’s gross profit declined by 11,4% compared to the same period of 2008 (-7.7% in local currencies). The implemented cost-cutting program shows encouraging results and is in line with the previously announced target of CHF 130 million savings until the end of the year. Panalpina reports solid growth in revenues
Successfully manages impact by economic decline, currency fluctuations, and Nigeria<br><br> Panalpina, the global freight transport and logistics group, increased its net forwarding revenue in the first nine months of 2008 by 6.9% compared to the first nine months of 2007, currency adjusted even by 13.3%. Panalpina reports dynamic growth in the first half year
The company will withdraw its domestic services from Nigeria later this year<br><br> The global freight transport and logistics Group, Panalpina, increased its net forwarding revenue in the first six months 2008 compared to the first half year 2007 by 7.8%, currency adjusted even by 17.5%. In relation to the transport volume, Panalpina managed again to gain additional market share both in the air freight as well as the ocean freight sector. Gross profit was -3.9 % below, but currency adjusted 1.9 % above last year’s figure. Net earnings (CHF 76.7 million) were once again impacted by the situation in Nigeria. Panalpina reports organic growth in the first quarter
Strengthening of the Executive Board and management structures<br><br> The global freight transport and logistics Group, Panalpina, significantly increased its net forwarding revenue in the first quarter 2008 compared to the first quarter 2007 by 9.2%, currency adjusted even by 15.3%. The gross profit was with -2.2% slightly behind, however currency adjusted 3.1% above the previous year’s first quarter. With -39.7%, net earnings, impacted by the situation in Nigeria, were considerably below the first quarter 2007. In connection with alleged concerted practices in the area of transportation services, on 10 October 2007 the Swiss Federal Competition Commission (Weko) conducted a search also of the premises of Panalpina in Basel. Panalpina suspends disputed services in Nigeria and confirms 2007 annual targets
Panalpina, one of the world’s leading suppliers of forwarding and logistic services, has suspended part of its service offering in Nigeria including its temporary importation services for oil and gas customers. The announcement is made today at Panalpina’s Investor Day in London. The suspension of these services and its potential impact on certain global agreements with oil and gas customers is expected to have an effect on the group’s Ebitda; for the current fiscal year this is estimated to be between CHF 20 to 30 million. Despite this impact, the Company has confirmed its positive outlook and financial guidance for 2007.

Panalpina and NYK reach agreement on a global cooperation

Panalpina expands air and ocean logistics services in Dubai
Panalpina, the global transport and logistics group, will move into a brand new logistics center in Dubai Logistics City, which will be part of Dubai World Central at Jebel Ali. On September 17, Panalpina attended the signing ceremony in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum. Construction is expected to commence end of this year.

Impressive business results in the first quarter 2006
The global transport and logistics group Panalpina showed a very strong performance and achieved excellent results in the first three months of 2006. Business year 2005: Successful IPO and further significant increase of results
Panalpina, the Swiss-based global transport and logistics group, reports strong results for 2005. The Company increased its gross revenue by 11.3% and its net forwarding revenue by 13.8% to CHF 6 962 million, achieved mostly by pure organic growth and reflecting the positive economic trend for the forwarding and logistics industry. Net earnings improved by 20.3% to CHF 120.3 million. The restructuring in North America started to show promising results.

Nine months results: Strong organic growth and improved profitability
The global transport and logistics group Panalpina posts convincing results for the first nine months of 2005. Net forwarding revenue grew 13.7% to CHF 4,967 million while the operating result (EBIT) increased 26.0% to CHF 130 million. Net income improved by 31.3% to CHF 103 million.
