 | One of our global automotive accounts was in urgent need of some spare parts from his supplier in the United Kingdom. The experts of the Panalpina OBC team were contacted immediately.
The objective was to deliver the fastest, most reliable but economic solution to prevent a shutdown of the plant in South Carolina, USA.
Rather than offering a more expensive direct charter option, our experts proposed to arrange an on-board courier to the nearest international airport plus an into-plant speed-up delivery by helicopter.
Shortly after we received the green light, a dedicated vehicle was en-route to pick up the parts at the supplier's premises and to deliver them to the airport we had chosen for this operation.
Due to the weight and volume of the shipment, as well as compliance with the airline’s security measures, several professional couriers were needed to uplift the shipment.
In order to avoid damage, the parts were repacked in our specially designed, large weather-proof Panalpina couriers bags, made of a durable material.
After the couriers checked in and confirmed that all bags were loaded on-board, they updated our competence center in Frankfurt.
Shortly after the aircraft was airborne, all data was transferred to our Huntsville office in order to arrange customs clearance and make all further arrangements for the helicopter charter.
The couriers arrived on time and after seeing to customs and immigration formalities they immediately recovered the courier bags and transferred them to the waiting helicopter.
After a 90 minutes flight, the helicopter landed on-site at the customer’s premises and within minutes the parts were offloaded and delivered to the production site.
With our constant consignment monitoring, the customer was fully updated on every step of this operation from pick-up in the United Kingdom up to the proof of delivery! |
